• Unscrew handguard locknut.

  • Remove endcap and pull apart handguard.

  • Unscrew and remove gas regulator, spring, and lock nut. LOCK NUT HAS LEFT HAND THREADS: Clockwise to loosen.

  • Pull the charging handle back and remove the barrel; allow the charging handle to slide forward as you remove the barrel.

  • Unscrew operating rod using wooden blocks to prevent damage.

  • Remove operating rod, spring, and handguard endcap.

  • Kit includes: two handguard halves, a shorter operating rod, two endcaps, an o-ring, and new lock nut.

  • Put encap on gun making sure the alignment pin is seated.

  • Replace operating rod and spring. Compress spring, insert bolt carrier guide at an angle, and rotate into position.

  • Screw in operating rod. Must use wooden blocks shown above to screw on tightly. Replace gas piston.

  • Replace barrell. Pull back on charging handle as barell is inserted.

  • Replace gas regulator, spring, nut, AND stock lock nut. REMEMBER LEFT HAND THREADS. Counter-Clockwise to tighten.

  • Assemble hand guard halves and insert into endcap.

  • Place endcap on hand guard, insert o-ring, then tighten Salem 6 nut onto o-ring. Tighten counter clockwise.
